Instead, it pays homage to a visionary Croatian inventor named Slavoljub Penkala. On January 24, 1906, Mr. Penkala patented the world's first mechanical pencil and shortly after, established the first pen workshop at Marije Valerije Street 3 (now Praška Street). This momentous event took place exactly a century before our brand's development in 1922/2022, inspiring the choice of our bar's name, Pen22.
